because I didn’t expect anything from you.
Truth be told,
I’ve been waiting for you
to prove my assumptions wrong.
I knew you were nothing but a token
a shiny thing to flash
to say “we did it”
but when I went to collect
the brass tax wasn’t adding up
and I found myself
exactly in the same place,
nothing really changed,
except for feeling more jaded.
