Open Communication & Setting Intentions

Today, some will celebrate Beltane – also known as May Day. A fire festival and a celebration in anticipation of summer

and the fertility of the coming growing season. It’s the joining together of the masculine and feminine energies to create. And when any two entities converge, there is a natural give-and-take dynamic that is established which requires some degree of communication.

Now more than ever we have all retreated from one another. We have physically distanced for days, weeks, months either all alone, with the ones we love, or – unfortunately for some – in less than ideal conditions (to put it mildly). Communicating with those we care about, those who are positive, has become more important than ever.

What’s more, the level of care and nurturing for one another with this simple act of physically distancing from those around us, when some of us would love nothing more than to physically connect with another human being, shows an astounding level of self sacrifice. In keeping our distance, we are showing a heart warming level of self sacrifice and great empathy for those that we may not even know. Those that would be most severely affected by this novel coronavirus.

To accept a situation, to surrender to it in all it’s joy and in all of it’s horrors, to adapt with the circumstances that one has been given, this is a true representation of the feminine energy in it’s purest form. The feminine is to receive, nourish, grow, carry, bare, and then nurture that which you have carried.

We so desperately need the feminine energy of receiving to be balanced and aligned with the masculine energy of doing or acting because we, all energy, is two halves of the one whole. When we are in balance, when both the masculine and the feminine is heard, accepted, and valued, only then can something really great and lasting be created. Only then can fair and just systems be created. For so long, there has been a larger emphasis on the masculine energy to the detriment of us all. In this current cycle, as things stand, too many actions and events have taken place without regard for the effects that those choices have on the natural environment, other animals, and other human beings. Greed and self-serving nature have taken over for empathy, caring, and selflessness.

So as we all sit in our respective locations on this May Day, beaten down and beaten back by an entity that cannot be seen by the naked eye, we are forced to really evaluate what is truly important. We must take a hard look at who we are and where we are in our lives. This Beltane, I hope we can all take a look at how we, as individuals, balance our masculine and feminine energies – our spirit of action and our ability to sit back, listen, and receive with an open heart. I hope we can truly evaluate the way that we present to the outside world and how we communicate with others.

For only through an evaluation of the self and renewed lines of communication can we get through this time and better weather future storms.

There’s no better time than now to be introspective. We have nothing but time on our hands.
